Shannon Webster - Orchestra
Shannon Webster is finishing her fourth year as the Director of Orchestras at Farmington High School in Farmington, CT. At Farmington, Shannon teaches four string ensembles and the select FHS Chamber Orchestra. She directs the pit orchestra for the annual spring musicals, and is an advisor to the FHS chapter of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. Shannon has worked at orchestra summer camps for many years, having worked as a violin instructor at James Madison University’s annual Spring String Thing from 2014-2018, and currently as a group lesson and orchestra director at the annual Farmington Suzuki String Academy.
Outside of classroom teaching, Shannon participates in a number of Connecticut’s professional music organizations. As a member of the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA), Shannon serves as the secretary of the Student Affairs Commission and held the position of co-chair of the 2020 CT Northern Region Orchestra Festival. She is also a member of the executive board of the Connecticut American String Teacher’s Association (ASTA). Shannon has been performing with the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra (FVSO) since 2017, and will be filling in as the second violin section leader for their spring 2020 concert. Shannon is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education with an emphasis in conducting from the University of Hartford, and holds a Bachelor of Music Education with a double emphasis in strings and piano from James Madison University. |
