We can't wait to see all of your smiling faces on June 21st! One thing that everyone needs to take care of to stay at camp is making sure your health forms are filled out correctly! The BSA Health Form FAQ answers alot of the basic questions. The most important FAQ is that every camper is required to have a physical done annually. The interpretation of "annual" is below direct from BSA: Q. What is meant by "Annual"? A. An AHMR is valid through the end of the 12th month from the date it was administered by your medical provider. For example, a physical administered March 3, 2014, would be valid until March 31, 2015. The AHMR in use before March 1, 2014, will be valid only until April 1, 2015, and only if it was completed before April 1, 2014. So, if you got a physical done June 1st, 2013 it is good until July 1st, 2014 (and this year's camp week!) Health forms can be found on the homepage of our LMC website, or on the Camp Workcoeman website under "Resident Camp Medical Forms". Yay camp!

We have an update on our Concert Venue! Terryville High School will be hosting the 2014 Laurel Music Camp concert. This venue is a new venue for us, complete with air conditioning! We are excited to share all of the lovely music we will be creating there on Friday, June 27th at 7PM!!! See below for a Google Map: Laurel Music Camp has extended its registration window for the 2014 season! We are looking to fill some specific spots in our ensembles on:
* Male Voices * Orchestral Strings * Clarinet * Trombone While those instruments/voices are "in need", we will accept all other registrations. Do you love camp? Do you have a friend who would also love camp that has never been? Get them signed up for this year! For every new camper that you refer, you will get a free ice cream at the camp trading post!!!! We hope you are all doing well! Or, as well as you can while you are away from camp ;) We're taking a moment away from the busy schedule to announce our 2014 camp conductors! Concert Band Keith Hodgson; Director of Instrumental Music @ Mainland Reg. HS (NJ), New Jersey MEA President - Keith rejoins us for his 4th camp season. He last conducted the LMC concert band in 2008. We can't wait to see his return to Weed Lodge! Jazz Band Gary Blumberg, professional studio musician in Fairfield County CT - Gary is back for his 2nd camp season to lead the jazzers. Choir Jeremy Milton, Choral Director at Old Saybrook HS - This will be Jeremy's 3rd season conducting the choir. Orchestra Dan D'Addio, Music Director of the Connecticut Youth Symphony @ The Hartt School - After Dr. Dan subbed in at the last minute last summer, he decided to come back! We're looking into how many times he has been to camp… its been a lot! We hope this gift will get you excited for the holiday season! We hope you have a happy and healthy new year, and we will be in touch soon regarding more details for LMC 2014!!!! We just wanted to take a moment to congratulate our campers on an AWESOME concert! A big thanks goes out to Dr. Dan D'Addio, who stepped in last minute to conduct the orchestra this year after our original director fell ill (we hope you are feeling better Chris!). Of course, big thanks also go out to our other directors: Scott Friend, Gary Blu, and Jeremy Milton! This summer, our week ending concert will be held at East Hartford Middle School. This is a great concert facility in central CT that the senior staff had the opportunity to tour over the past weekend. The concert is on Friday June 28th at 7PM. Good note: some staff found that when simply putting EHMS into their GPS they were lead to the High School instead. Please enter the address to get to the right school: 777 Burnside Avenue East Hartford CT 06108 We still have a few spots left for the upcoming camp season, especially for male voices in choir and background instruments (horn, bass clarinet, bassoon etc). - On our Facebook page, we recently posted a survey regarding the last day of school. We realize many school districts had many days tacked on to the end of the school year due to snow/hurricane days. Please take a moment to answer the survey, ESPECIALLY if you are a HS student in CT. In the past, we have worked with students individually that have needed to leave camp for a graduation ceremony or exams. If you have any questions, please contact our registrar Kim Friend at registrarLMC@gmail.com. This survey will help us plan accordingly and make sure that we can accommodate having everyone come to camp while still making sure the camp experience is positive for everyone, no matter when their summer starts. - The BSA health forms can be found here on the Camp Workcoeman website. Please note every staff member and camper must have had a physical done within 12 calendar months of camp. - The registration deadline is fast approaching! SEND THOSE FORMS IN! We have great news: CAMP IS ONLY 149 DAYS AWAY! The senior staff is getting everything organized for this upcoming season and are all excited to get back to making music with everyone. We now have the 2013 Camper Application available to download from our Registration page. Please get your application completed and submitted to us as soon as possible to secure your spot at camp. Talk to your friends, band/choir director and fellow musicians at school and tell them how awesome camp is! There are more details to come, so keep your eyes peeled!
